After meeting your guide, you'll complete the safety terms form and get fitted with a helmet. Then it's time for a quick training lesson to get acquainted with your Segway. You'll start with a little one-on-one session then you'll be left to have some time to get used to it. Next, your experienced Segway guide will go through a couple more control tests then you're ready to embark on your Queenstown adventure.

The tour takes you around Queenstown's best locations, with your experienced local guide sharing information and stories along the way. The whole time you can take in the scenic Lake Wakatipu views while riding on this novel transporter.

Later, you take a cruise through the beautiful Queenstown Gardens. While here, you'll get to stretch your legs for 5 minutes with another surprise activity taster thrown in.

On the way back, you have the option to try a higher speed setting. This, combined with some other added play, will leave you in awe of the eco-friendly Segway's fantastic technology!

Finally, as you travel, your guide will help you to remember your fabulous experience with a photo stop at a very picturesque Queenstown lakeside location. If you want more at other spots, just ask – they'll be happy to take care of that for you.

The Segway was easy to operate, and the guides provided us with thorough instructions, which made it a breeze for beginners like me to pick up and enjoy the experience. I particularly loved the interactivity of the tour, as the guides shared interesting facts and stories that made the journey even more engaging.

Frequently Asked Questions

Riders between 35kgs to 120kgs will be fine to partake in the Segway activity. If within 5kgs of this range (e.g. kids weighing 30-34kgs), please check with The Operator about suitability. There isn’t a specific age restriction, but generally, it’s recommended for ages ten and above.

Segways are easy to ride and your experienced guide will get you up and going in no time. The Operator has had customers up to 87 years old and customers who can’t ride bikes – all have managed the Segways just fine.

Unless it’s a really hot day, then bring an extra layer than what you would wear if going for a walk. You can leave it in your Segway bag if you don’t need it. In Winter, warm socks and shoes are recommended, along with beanies, gloves and jackets. The Operator has spare gloves for those that need them.

The Segways run on electric motors powered by rechargeable batteries which last many years. The energy for this is sourced from a clean, renewable energy source, hydropower, making it very environmentally friendly.
