  • Please let us know about any cancellations at least 24 hours prior to departure, cancellations over 24hours will be at no charge.
  • Any changes or cancellations within 24hours are at the tour operators discretion, if they are unable to fill the seats with other passengers you may be charged in full.
  • If you are going to be late, please contact the tour operator as soon as possible so they can try to fill those seats and check if moving you to another flight time is possible. No shows or missed check in times will forfeit the full amount of their fare and seats on that flight.

  • Infants are up to 3yrs old (and a maximum of 15kgs), they must be sitting on an adult's knee and are subject to availability. The tour operator will supply an infant's belt and earmuffs for them, they recommend you bring a dummy for them to suck during the last part of the flight while we descend. Maximum of one infant per booking. There is no minimum age for flying with them. Children must fly with an adult.
  • Your safety is the tour operators top priority. Their helicopters are meticulously maintained, and our pilots undergo rigorous training to ensure a safe flight. Please listen carefully and follow your pilots' instructions at all times so you can sit back & enjoy the experience. Please inform them of any specific requirements or concerns, and we will do our best to accommodate them.
  • Being a highly weather dependent activity, they reserve the right to change flights, routes and landings subject to weather conditions at the pilot’s discretion. Flight durations are approximate. Wind, rain and cloud could all affect your flight. They will endeavor to give you as much notice as possible but the weather here changes extremely fast and if we are unable to fly you will be refunded. Please be kind to the team – they can't control the weather and safety is our priority.
  • The tour operator requires a minimum of 4 pax for a flight to depart. Smaller and solo bookings are welcomed, and we will pair you up with another small group. In the event we do not have numbers you will be offered a reschedule or refunded.
  • The helicopter seats are 40cm wide. If you think you are wider than this, we highly recommend booking a comfort seat next to you. All customers are welcomed to reserve the comfort seat next to them for extra space.
  • There is not a lot of space in the helicopters. Selfie sticks, extendable go pro handles and all bags are best left behind, or with office staff for safe keeping.
  • Check-in is at the office at 10 Main Road, Franz Josef, you should arrive 30 minutes before your scheduled departure time. We’ll conduct a weight and balance, complete any payments due and safety brief you before transporting you by van to our helipad at the edge of town.
  • Unfortunately, the tour operator does not take seat requests. Some seats have different weight limits to others, so seats are allocated at check in once they have weighed all passengers to ensure they meet the weight and balance requirements correctly. They operate AS350 B2 Squirrels (H125) and a MD520N. The maximum number of passengers per helicopter is 6 (this includes infants).

The helicopter is a comfortable temperature, and the snow landing sites varies. In the winter the temperature is generally about 5° colder than town and in the peak of summer it is often warmer than Franz Josef township. We will be able to offer advice at check on the day's current conditions.

Summer is the peak time of the year for tourism with the most sunshine hours, but fresh snow on the mountains the rest of the year makes for fantastic landing spots and great photos.

Suprisingly Winter is one of the best times to fly here with a lot of cold, clear days. However the wild West Coast weather changes quickly and we can have four seasons in a day at any time of the year.

We aim to fly every day of the year if the weather allows us too.

There is street parking in front of the office, additionally there is a car park just across the road which is also suitable for camper vans.

It is technically possible to apply for a permit to use a drone but it is not common for these permits to be approved due to the number of helicopters in the region and the National Park regulations. Flying a drone without a permit can result in large fines and charges from the Civil Aviation Association and New Zealand Police. More information can be found on the below links.

No, we cannot guarantee these as we need to allocate seats at check in after weighing each passenger and seat them according to each helicopter's specific weight and balance regulations - this is for safety reasons. The front seats have the most restrictive conditions. Private charters do have more flexibility and we are happy to discuss seating with your charter booking but there are still specific weight and balance regulations for each helicopter we need to meet.

Our fleet includes two Airbus Helicopter H125 machines (aka AS350 B2 Squirrel) seating up to 6 passengers and a MD 520N (Notar) seating up to 4 passengers (plus an infant) which also provides up to a 50% reduction in noise over other helicopters.
