If you only have limited time in New Zealand but don't want to miss the incredible landscapes of Milford Sound, then this scenic flight is a perfect option. This trip provides a spectacular overview of Milford Sound and endless panoramic views of lakes, forested river valleys, waterfalls, jagged razor-backed ridgelines and snow-covered peaks along the way. It's an unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Crossing the mountains at altitude from the Mount Aspiring National Park into the Fiordland National Park, you'll soar above snow-capped mountains, glaciers and glacial rivers before descending into Milford Sound. Here, you'll have close-up views of Mitre Peak, glaciers and the Stirling and Lady Bowen Falls.
Once you've taken in the panoramic views of the Sound, you'll fly back to Queenstown via one of New Zealand's tallest waterfalls – the Sutherland Falls – and over more mountains to look down on the valleys and the road that makes its way from Te Anau via the Homer Tunnel to Milford Sound.
Due to weather conditions that are common in this area, your pilot sometimes needs to detour from the desired flight path; however, they will always ensure you are safe and comfortable and get to experience fantastic views on the Milford Sound flights. All seats aboard the aircraft are window seats, and the pilots love to provide interesting and informative commentary as you fly.
