The TSS Earnslaw is a engineering wonder. However, if just doing the cruise and not the lunch and farm tour...just be warned that if there are large numbers doing the far tours...it is crazy on board with people everywhere and minimal places to sit down.After everyone gets off...yhe ship becomes peaceful and you get to truly appreciate what a beautiful piece of history this is.
It's just wonderful being out on Lake Whakatipu, but extra special to do it in the over 100 year old steamship. Lounge in comfort with a drink from the bar. Wander the deck for alpine views. Or gaze upon the precision engineering of the coal fired steam engine.
Just do it. I did the dinner cruise a while ago so went with the 90 minute cruise to Walter Peak station and back. It was a stunning day and very hot so the lake breeze and a couple of glasses of wine really helped. The Earnslaw and it's size and the ability to see how a steamship works is just as fascinating as it ever was.

Never disappoints. This was at least my third trip in 20 years and each was memorable. The scenery of course never changes and neither does the thrill of riding aboard an historic gem! But the time and day and one's mood make each trip different. Crew always helpful. Vessel always immaculate. Must do in Oueenstown.
A highlight of our trip to Queenstown. The trip was busy, but that's what you get in January in queenstown! The cafe was lovely and the piano player was such a nice addition. Stunning views.
My siblings and I booked this cruise experience for our parents and they had such a great time. Excellent views, drinks, and conversation. Would absolutely book again!
