This intimate, small-group adventure, ensures a personalised experience as you traverse the Routeburn Track. Your guided 8km return hike begins at the scenic Divide Shelter. Here, you'll ascend through a temperate rainforest along a maintained path.

The gradual ascent unfolds over approximately two hours at a comfortable, leisurely pace, allowing ample time to absorb the serene atmosphere and lush surroundings. The climb, reaching an elevation of 400 meters, transitions from the dense rainforest to the striking alpine landscape. As you break through the treeline, you are greeted by breathtaking panoramic views encompassing towering snowy peaks, pristine alpine lakes, and deep, bush-clad valleys.

The pinnacle of the hike offers a spectacular lunch spot—on clear days, you’ll dine amidst alpine tarns, surrounded by nature’s splendour. In less favourable weather, shelter is found in a nearby tramping hut, providing a cozy refuge. Following lunch, you will retrace your steps back to the Divide Shelter, carrying with you the tranquillity and beauty of Fiordland as you return to Te Anau.

This excursion not only offers a physical journey but an educational one as well, with your knowledgeable guide sharing insights into the area's rich natural and historical heritage throughout the day.

A reasonable level of fitness and walking ability is required due to the 400-metre ascent and descent.  The walk is 7-10 km, with a walking time of 3 to 5 hours.  The track is well-graded and wide, with no drop-offs. On occasion, wet weather and cold conditions in the alpine area may make conditions more challenging.  We operate in most weather conditions, so guests need to be suitably prepared.
